Lessons that walk you through real hands
Half-hour-plus videos where Lorna picks up a hand and works it out one step at a time, from counting points to choosing the right opening bid. Plain English, no jargon, watch on any device and replay whenever you need it.
Build a strong foundation
Dedicated lessons on the building blocks of bidding, play and defense. Point counts, balanced and unbalanced shapes, when to open and which suit to choose, so you sit down at the table knowing what to do.
Topics that come up at the table
Mentoring sessions on the situations that trip players up, from competitive bidding and interference over no trump to declarer planning in a tight contract. Lorna draws on decades of teaching and current bridge writing, so every topic gets the time it needs.
In their own words.
Lorna's mentoring adds a different dimension to learning bridge. Instead of responding to “What do I do here?” with “Just do this or try that,” Lorna prompts her students to use previous learning to think their way to the answer. The effect has been to consider not just my partner's bids but also the opponents' bidding or passes and the vulnerability of both sides.
This approach to improving your bridge game works! It's a natural progression from lessons on the fundamentals of bridge to this form of teaching. Lorna and her team advance your game by introducing and reviewing topics in her “chalk talk” and then playing hands with real-time advice from mentors. Thank you Lorna for giving me an approach to improving my play.
Lorna played a vital role for the Bridge Centre of Niagara for many years. I was in a class of hers around 12 years ago with 13–14 brand-new players. Through her patience, knowledge and enthusiasm many of us continue to play today. Bridge isn't just a game to me — it's a whole community, and Lorna goes above and beyond to keep it alive.
If you have found the great game of bridge, you are likely looking for a way to learn and engage with others like you. If you are lucky, you meet a mentor just like Lorna. She has a wealth of knowledge and a natural way of teaching — friendly, patient, and full of humour. Anytime I play I hear her in my ear saying “what are you telling your partner?” or “what do you think partner's bid means?” She deserves all the praise and gratitude she receives from her students.
